In one of his last acts as the acting Army secretary, Patrick Murphy on Tuesday swore in some of the Army’s newest recruits.

“We need to set the tone that every soldier is a soldier for life, and that means you’re a leader of character for a lifetime of service,” said Murphy, who on Wednesday resumed full-time his role as the service’s under secretary after serving as the acting secretary while Eric Fanning awaited Senate confirmation.
